You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessments may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given this information.

You will gain skills in supply chain operations and can specialize in logistics and warehousing operations within the Transport and Logistics Industry.

You will learn a defined range of skilled operations, usually within a range of broader related activities. These activities involve known routines, methods and procedures, where some discretion and judgement is required in selecting equipment, services or contingency measures within known time constraints. It may also include responsibility for coordinating the work of others. Topics may include:

• Receiving incoming goods, checking for damage and for discrepancies between goods and invoices
• Unloading vehicles, opening packages and removing contents
• Operating computers to obtain details of location and quantity of items in stock
• Labelling goods with details of storage location
• Packing and weighing goods and sealing boxes
• Operating machines to lift, place and remove goods on high levels
• Operating specialized equipment and checking goods off picking list
• Assisting and coordinating regular stocktakes
• Using materials handling equipment, such as hydraulic jacks and hand trucks, to move goods
